The Current Happenings at the Seahawks Gives 49ers a Rare Opportunity
The massive changes going on at the Seattle Seahawks were expected after they missed the 2017 playoffs. The roster changes are coming at a time when NFL's new league season is about to begin next week. Seattle is a perennial powerhouse in NFC West, but with the current changes happening a few days before the league starts creates good opportunity for the 49ers to shine.
Seattle is trading Michael Bennett (Pro-Bowl pass rusher) to the Eagles who're the defending Super Bowl Champion, this is according to ESPN. These news are coming after the NFL Media reported that Richard Sherman, an All-Pro cornerback told his teammates that he will not be part of the team from next season. In addition, the future of Kam Chancellors with the Seattle is still uncertain. The strong safety player suffered a serious neck injury last season and not forgetting a similar uncertain status affects Cliff Avril (Pass rusher). Most people are closely looking at the 49ers odds and we all expect better things to come on their way.
The championship window is now closing on one of the best defenses we have seen in NFL history. After missing the 2017 playoffs, which was their first time in 5 seasons, Seattle paved way for the Rams to lift the division title. That also created an opportunity for the Niners to leapfrog them in NFC West division hierarchy. With their super talented Jimmy Garoppolo in tow, a lot of optimism is currently surrounding 49ers this season especially among the non-playoff teams. However, the new changes at the Seattle have brought in Brian Schottenheimer, a brilliant offense and Ken Norton Jr. in defense. Their head coach Pete Carroll will continue to oversee the team's operation.
According to Carroll, this is a good time to make tough decisions and challenge the opportunity to become better. Seattle coach is working on changing their approach and find perfect ways to uncover some newness for the team. It's quite clear there are difficult choices to be made because the players who left had done a lot together for the team and in a great fashion. These decisions need to be made at a time when championship window is coming to a close. Seattle's pronged success in five seasons in NFL leagues was quite impressive. San Francisco has never beaten Seahawks since Dec. 2013 because they found better ways to outshine the 49ers. However, their current situation appears to be similar to the Niners' in 2015 where they lost most of their stars and stalwarts. The only difference is that Seattle is not losing its coach.
These two long time rivals appear to head in different directions with 49ers riding in an upward trajectory thanks to Kyle Shanahan, John Lynch and Garoppolo when they orchestrated an impressive 5-game winning streak. For Seattle, its a different story after losing their best defense players amid significant changes. It's a difficult time for them and 49ers could tell them. Everyone is waiting to see how Seattle is planning to come out of their current predicaments. For the 49ers, its a rare opportunity to move up from their current position. We're closely watching 49ers odds and hope that the team will produce great results going forward.
