Many teams in the NFC West seem to have given the Los Angeles Rams the comfort of staying at the top of the standings after twelve games. The game between the Rams and the Arizona Cardinals that took place in Glendale remains one of the most entertaining games so far this season. The visitors emerged victorious with a 32-16 score line after a strong and determined battle. With only four games to go as the regular season ends, the NFC West standings might change, as every team is still scrambling for the division title.
Los Angeles Rams
With a determined attitude, the Rams thrashed the Arizona Cardinals on the road in Glendale. The game ended with a 32-16 score line. The Cardinals came into the game without veteran and skilled players, such as Adrian Peterson and Carson Palmer. Even though the Cardinals were defensively stubborn in the first half, the Rams outscored them 13-3 in the second half to improve their NFC West standings.
Jared Goff, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback, and Todd Gurley, the running back have proved to comfortably play every game with confidence. Gurley, who plays not only as a runner, but also as a receiver seems to be the most threatening player for the offense. Since Robert Woods, who plays as a wide receiver, is yet to display his A-game, I think the time is ripe for coach Sean McVay to set up other promising players, including Sammy Watkins, Cooper Kupp, and Gerald Everett. With their next match scheduled against the Philadelphia Eagles next week, the Rams have to ensure that they play exceptionally well to solidify their position in NFC West standings and before meeting Seattle Seahawks on the road in a fortnight.
The Philadelphia Eagles played the Seahawks on the road during the Sunday Night Football match in Seattle in which the home team won. Russell Wilson, the potential candidate for MVP as well as the Seahawks quarterback led his team to thwart the defensive efforts of the Eagles QB Carson Wentz. Running back Mike Davis contributed 16 carries for 64 yards. In a fortnight, the Seahawks will be meeting the Rams. However, prior to that game, they will have to seek an impressive a win on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On Sunday, the Rams thrashed the Cardinals even though both teams wasted many big opportunities to touchdown on the end zone. With Carson Palmer still nursing a broken arm, and Adrian Peterson a neck injury, the offense of the team was not at par, even though Kerwynn Williams and Larry Fitzgerald produced some impressive plays. Despite their loss to the Rams, the Cards could revive their hopes when they play at home against the Tennessee Titans on Monday.
In their game against the stubborn defense of the Chicago Bears, the 49ers recorded their second victory of the season. Jimmy Garoppolo started for the first time with the 49ers in his career. Marquise Goodwin and Trent Taylor also helped the offense with a combined 191 yards receiving.
Since the 49ers traded for Garoppolo with a second round pick, I believe the 49ers will be focusing on his contribution to the team as the regular season winds down. Tom savage will lead the San Francisco team to take on the Texans in Houston.
