49ers Rank Better than SeaHawks after First Week of Free Agency
After the NFL's first week of free agency, power rankings have been updated and the results are interesting. The NFL.com rankings are presented by resident analyst Eliot Harrison. According to the updated power rankings by Harrison, the Niners are at No.13. Going by the previous ranking, this is definitely a great improvement for the team. He acknowledged that there is a lot of enthusiasm and excitement around the team. According to the analyst, the Garoppolo wave is taking over akin to the Tebow phenomenon. This could prove to be more than just hype when the San Francisco players get down to serious business on the field.
With new talent from free agency added to the team, the analyst suggests that the 49ers odds to beat Seahawks could be better than ever. Speaking of the Seahawks, the power rankings has seen them drop their position. Seattle now ranks No. 15 dropping from No.13 right after the Super Bowl. Previously, the Niners had ranked at No. 14 and this is certainly an improvement. These rankings are determined by the among others; the types of players acquired from free agency. High caliber talents will see teams rank even better.
When it comes to the NFC West, the Los Angeles Rams is the team to beat. Analysts say that the Rams are favorites to win. Seattle on the other hand could be ranked at No. 3 in the pacific northwest. This is in the wake of massive changes in the teams. This ranking for the Seahawks might last for the entire off-season. In the last season, the Rams and the Seahawks went head to head splitting right in the middle. The 49ers played very close games in which they were thrashed. For the Niners to assert their authority, they will have to beat the Seahawks. This will be the right step to taking charge of the game going forward.
The Niners will have to work extra time to tame the Seahawks. This is because their last victory against Seattle came at the close of 2013. In fact, since December 2011, the Niners have not won any game in Seattle. Now, the Seahawks are ranking behind both the Niners and the Rams. Indeed, the rubber will meet the road when the opponents take it to the field. The perception that Seattle is falling behind will have to be proven when the 49ers defeat these challengers fair and square.
According to analyst Eliot Harrison, the Niners have managed to inject adrenaline into their lineup. With new sign ups that are taking a huge part of the pay, a big rejuvenation is expected as the players hit the field in the season. It is rare to have a team finish with back to back wins and the Garoppolomania could be working to set the pace for what is coming in San Francisco. Whether the power rankings will indicate which teams are better or not, all teams are striving to outdo each other in battle. With the intrigues that will feature in the season, fans will be keenly watching and cheering on their favorite teams and players.
