San Francisco 49ers Fight Injuries while Preparing for Houston
On Thursday night, the San Francisco 49ers came from behind to win their NFL preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. Even though the 49ers squad has already beefed up their practice sessions, they still lack a full house because of injuries, starting with running back Matt Breida and tight end George Kittle who are nursing shoulder injuries. After contracting the injuries on Thursday, both players will be out until the end of preseason, but they should be fit to play when the 2018 NFL season kicks off as fans await 49ers odds on next game.
Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers head coach, still has a list of players who are yet to resume practice due to injuries. A hamstring injury has kept linebacker Malcolm Smith away from the action, with defensive tackle Solomon Thomas and tackle Garry Gilliam out due to a concussion. After fully recovering from his July 28 knee injury, guard Joshua Garnett rejoined his teammates in practice, and he is likely to start against the Houston Texans this week. The hip injury that rested Brock Coyle subsided and the linebacker resumed the Sunday practice, a scenario that prompts every fan to know the 49ers odds on next game.
Even though he did not take part in the team drills, also in practice was cornerback Richard Sherman. The presence of guard Jonathan Cooper was also noted even though Jerick McKinnon’s right knee had to be scheduled for an MRI as he missed the practice session. Robert Saleh, the 49ers defensive coordinator expressed that staying healthy is a priority for them as they prepare for the upcoming season. He said that the squad has to prepare rigorously so that they can be physically and mentally prepared for the actual games.
The San Francisco 49ers linebacker Pita Taumoepenu was also present and Saleh was quickly noted that the player is exceptionally dedicated because it seem like he learns something fresh on a daily basis." Furthermore, the defensive coordinator noted that they are not focusing on whether a player is on the first or second team, but on ensuring that they make the most of their practice sessions. Brieda’s injury saw RB Jeremy McNichols and his counterpart Raheem Mostert working tirelessly as well, with RB Joe Williams out of practice due to bereavement.
ESPN’s Nick Wagoner expressed that during their drills, QB Jimmy Garoppolo managed to find wide receiver Aldrick Robinson with a superbly calculated deep pass that was switched to Trent Taylor for a TD. On Monday, the squad will continue with practice before travelling to Houston on Tuesday for joint practice sessions before going head-to-head on Saturday. Defensive coordinator also noted that the joint practice sessions will help the teams to learn the different ways that rival teams can use to attack them.
The scheduled practices will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, and will facilitate another meeting between two of the best defensive linesmen in the league: defensive end J.J. Watt and rookie tackle Mike McGlinchey. On the other hand, the forthcoming tests does not deter McGlinchey who expressed that playing against some of the best players in the NFL is the reason why he plays. He added that since Texans have around four god players, he is looking forward to having fun and winning on Saturday.
