This American football wide receiver, former Olympian, and kick returner for the San Francisco 49ers of NFL competed in track and field. He has set many records. He was a part of his college football team at Texas. He was also drafted by the Buffalo Bill in 2013 NFL Draft, in the third round.
Marquise Goodwin specialty is the long jump. He won two national college championships. He represented his country at the 2008 EAAF World Junior championship and some other prestigious games that include the 2011 IAAF World Championships, the 2011 World University games, and the 2012 Summer Olympics. He won silver in 2015 Pan American Games. He was a good competitor who competed as a sprinter and long jumper. He has been a strong contender in the triple jump, 60 meters, and 100 meters dashes. He started participating in different types of games from his school days. He has created some records during his college days.
College Days
An athletic scholarship made him join the University of Texas at Austin. During these years, he was an active player in Mack Brown's Texas Longhorns football team for three years from 2009 to 2012. He was also a strong contender for Texas Longhorns track and field team.
He won the NCAA champion title in the long jump for two times in 2010 and 2012. He was also a four-time-All-American in track and field. He has competed in many championships and won titles in his college years.
During his college days, he started playing 21 of the 49 games including the 2010 BCS National Championship Game. In 2012, he was selected as a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy. In the same year, he earned the game’s Offensive Most Valuable Player Trophy for a 64-yard touchdown and 36-yard touchdown pass. He also competed in the 2013 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Goodwin represented USA Olympic team in the long jump. He had the best mark of 8.33 m in the trials. That would have been good enough to win a gold medal for his country. In 2012, he qualified for the finals with his first jump of 8.11. However, he could not do well in the finals and got 10th place. His dream to return to Olympic came up short for his disappointing performance at Olympic trials in 2017.
He signed a four years contract with Buffalo Bills in 2013. He played twelve games in the rookie season. During his rookie season, he made 17 receptions for 283 receiving yards. Also, he has sixteen kickoff returns. 2014 was not favorable to him. He suffered from multiple injuries. He caught one pass only for forty-two yards.
He missed five games in 2015 due to his broken ribs. In 2016, he came back with 431 yards, 29 receptions. He has made some remarkable achievements in this year. However, he was inconsistent.
Goodwin signed a two years contract with the San Francisco in 2017. In his 49ers debut in 2017, he had three receptions for 21 yards. On November, he played against the New York Giants with his first touchdown on the 83-yard reception. His team beat the New York Giants as the first win of the season. After the win, he revealed a personal loss, the death of his premature son.
In the 15 weeks, he made 10 passes for 114 yards. His team won the game over Titans. During this game, he also made the new career high in receptions and yards. He finished the first season with 49ers with 56 catches for 962 yards and two touchdowns.
On March 8, 2018, he extended the contracts for three years with 49ers for $20.3 million. The contract will last till 2018. As he is in the best form now, he might set some new records for his team. As long as NFL team has a clear vision for this great player, he can play in a similar manner to register another win in the name of his team. He has the record of winning multiple long jump titles. He only needs to improve his consistency to play with his full potential in the upcoming NFL season.
