49ers Vs Texans Week 14 Game
The San Francisco 49ers will play the Houston Texans in Week 14, and this is as good a time as any to preview the match. The 49ers odds for Week 14 are expected to be better than those of the Texans but not by much.

The Texans and the 49ers have nothing good to say about 2017. The 49ers have a record of 2-10. The Texans are 4-8. Suffice it to say, neither team has had a good season. Both of them need a win in Week 14.
The 49ers will face the Texans with a victory against the Chicago Bears in their pocket. One assumes that they will go into the Week 14 all the more confident as a result. The Texans, on the other hand, lost to the Tennessee Titans, so their morale cannot be that high.
On paper, it looks like the Texans are the better team, especially when one accounts for their record. But then one cannot ignore the performance Jimmy Garoppolo delivered in the 49ers’ game against the Bears and the difference he just might make against the Texans.
If this new season was just starting, then there would be no question about Houston’s ability to win their Week 14 match. The Texans were such a strong team in the beginning. But then rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson was injured and forced to take his talents off the field.
He was eventually followed by J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus to mention but a few, this leaving Houston rather defenseless. Not that San Francisco faired any better. Injuries have also thoroughly ravaged them.
But right now the 49ers have the advantage of Garoppolo. He didn’t get that many opportunities to show his stuff in the last San Francisco game. But the few minutes he played were incredible.
So the 49ers are at least confident in their ability to field a player who will pressure the Texans. Houston should have countered Garoppolo with Watson but his injuries will probably keep him on the bench for the rest of the season.
The 49ers are going to want to win the most not because they have a shot at making the playoffs – they don’t—but because they want to show signs that they are improving. Some people think they should just lose and bank on getting a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
But just because San Francisco gets a high draft pick doesn’t mean they will win the next NFL season. The 49ers need to take a long-term view of things. They need to think about what will happen after the 2018 draft.
Of course, beating Houston won’t be easy. The Texans have definitely suffered more than the 49ers because of injuries. But they are not without talent. Their ranks still include the likes of DeAndre Hopkins.
Hopkins is a star and he will pressure San Francisco’s inexperienced secondary. The 49ers’ receiving core suffered the most from injuries. They still have gifted athletes like Trent Taylor and Marquise Goodwin but none of them is guaranteed to deliver an outstanding performance against Houston in Week 14.
In fact, neither team has a player that can be counted on to change the tide of the game. So at this point, luck will probably be a deciding factor.
